I'M
RYAN MURPHY.
PRODUCT DESIGNER AT FACEBOOK

I'm a senior product designer driven by my passion to create beautiful, intuitive, and useful tools that empower and delight end users while meeting business goals and driving growth for businesses large and small.
I specialize in supporting products and services from conception to implementation. Representing design across a multidisciplinary team, I'm responsible for driving strategy, scoping, planning, and realizing the design vision while ensuring quality control over the end product. I currently drive product initiatives, tactical and strategic, for Consumer Integrations Platform at Facebook.

MY APPROACH

Outline User Goals
After gaining empathy by walking in people's shoes, I work with my multi-disciplinary team to outline product goals to help in directing our design and product decisions.

Absorb + Learn
Before diving into a project, I take the time to understand people's needs by familiarizing myself with their pain points, current tools, usage patterns, and competitive landscape.

Sketch + Prototype
Once we've identified the people problems and jobs to be done statements, I will iterate in low fidelity to illustrate end to end flows which I build into prototypes to test with end users.

Share + Iterate
While partnering with research, I continuously iterate within low fidelity prototypes. We use the prototypes in user research to collect feedback which informs the next set of iterations. This process is repeated until we feel the design has been validated.

Scope + Define
I continue working with my product team to finalize the design strategy which I share the validated designs with leadership to ultimately land the minimum viable product while also working to establish the product roadmap.

Build + Ship
Once we gain support from leadership, I work with engineering to hand off final design specs. From this point, I work with to address user and partner feedback coming from the test builds.
